The A.A.S. degree in Desktop Publishing prepares students for a career in graphic communications. Skills emphasized stress the ability to successfully design and produce a wide variety of materials using both IBM-compatible and Macintosh computers. The development of a "portfolio" is required and created throughout the program. An internship in the DesktopPublishing field is offered.

This curriculum prepares students with the skills needed for employment in a desktop publishing business or in an office which uses desktop publishing equipment. The coursework covers hardware, software, and graphics enhancements as well as the skills needed for elementary layout and design work. Graduates of this program will be qualified for positions as entry-level desktop publishers or as support staff in an office that uses desktop publishing.
