This program is designed to prepare individuals to become entry-level licensed cosmetologists in the state of Illinois. When you are a trained designer, you have opened the door to a world of career options, full- or part-time.
This program is approved by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and satisfies that agency's requirement of 1,500 hours of instruction.
Persons who satisfactorily complete this curriculum are eligible to apply and to take the cosmetology examination required by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Individuals who pass this examination become licensed in Illinois.
An applicant must be a high school graduate or have a GED certificate (or be over 18 years of age and have completed an eighth grade education) and show the desire, interest and ability to pursue the program. Each applicant must provide the Admissions and Records Office with:
  1. Official transcript of grades from previous college(s), high school, or elementary  school, and
  2. Proof of name (birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce papers). If a namechange occurs while enrolled in the program, proof of the new name must be submitted at that time.
