Congratulations! We are excited you are taking the next steps and applying to Carl Sandburg College, and we are happy to help you with this process. Once your application is submitted, you will have access to a portal which contains information such as your Admissions Recruiter and their contact information, contact information for frequently used resources on Sandburg's campus, an Application Updates form, and much more! If you have any questions, the Welcome Center is here to help every step of the way.

Application Dates and Deadlines

Unlike 4-year institutions, Sandburg does not have strict application dates and deadlines. However, below we have listed the dates that our applications are made available as well as removed from our website. Additionally, there is information regarding when course registration begins and ends. Once registration has ended, students are no longer able to register for classes for that particular semester without permission from the Dean of Student Success.

Please note, Limited Enrollment Program application dates and deadlines may differ from the dates listed below. Additionally, deadlines are shortened for international students in order to allow time for students to go through the visa process. For more information, please contact the Welcome Center.

Have you taken classes at Carl Sandburg College (not including Upward Bound or Upward Bound Math-Science) or were you a Dual Credit student?  

If the answer is no to either of these questions, please follow the directions above for a New Student (Never Applied or Enrolled at Sandburg).

If the answer is yes to either of the questions above, you may not need to re-apply.

  • If you were a previously enrolled Sandburg student, we have an application on file. Please contact Student Services at 309.341.5237 to find out what your next steps are. 
  • When contacting Student Services, please let them know you are a previous Sandburg student (or previous Dual Credit student) and that you would like to re-enroll.

Applying to Limited Enrollment Programs

Select programs offered at Carl Sandburg College have limited enrollment and specific requirements for applying and acceptance.

Limited enrollment programs require the following:

1) Complete a new student application to Carl Sandburg College

  • This application is for general admissions to the College. If you are a current or recent Sandburg student, please call The Welcome Center to find out if you need to fill out a Sandburg application.  All new students will need to fill out a New Student Application. 

2)  Complete an application specific to the limited enrollment program you would like to enroll in. 

After submission of a new student application:

  • Visit the specific program page(s) for detailed information including curriculum, application checklists, pre-requisite information, program-specific application timelines, cost sheets, and more. Limited enrollment programs often require more steps beyond applying to the program.
  • You will want to be sure you have an application check-list for your program of interest and we encourage you to make an appointment with your Admissions Recruiter. You can find your Admissions Recruiter and their contact information in your portal if you applied for Fall 2021 or beyond. If you applied for an entry term prior to Fall 2021, contact the Welcome Center to make an appointment with your Admissions Recruiter.
