The ladies really showed what they are made of coming back from 3-0 and 4-1 deficits in the second game on the road in a key conference match up". "This was a signature win for us." "This was a team victory, each and every player on the roster made key contributions throughout the game doing the little things it takes to win, such as advancing on a wild pitch or diving for a ball"
Assistant Coach Lynnae Touchette "The team never lost faith and never gave up; they scratched and clawed their way back into the game". "Jodi's homerun in the 7th inning was a huge lift for us, it gave us some breathing room and fired up the team, it was our first homerun of the season and couldn't have come at a better time".

Carl Sandburg College played Illinois Valley College today at home taking both games in their home opener 3-2 and 3-1.
In the first game Carl Sandburg College jump out 1-0 lead in the first inning on a single by Jessie Rosenow who drive in Shay Heap. Carl Sandburg College went up 2-0 on a sac fly by Holly Billman which drove in Jessie Rosenow. Carl Sandburg College gave up 2 unearned run in the top of the fifth with two outs. Carl Sandburg College won the game withtwo outs on a drive by heap that drove in Amanda Anderson. Anderson took the win going seven innings give up 2 unearned run on 7 hits with 4 k's and 1 walk.
In game two Carl Sandburg College scored 1 in the third inning and 2 in the fifth inning with Holly Billman driving them all in. Billman went 2 for 3 in the game and Brianna McBurney going 2 for 2 and scoring 2 runs. Jenna Archdale threw a five hitter With 5 k's and 2 walks and 1 run in seven innings.
Illinois Valley was undefeated in the Arrowhead Conference and Carl Sandburg College is 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in the Arrowhead Conference.

Muscatine, IA 03-6-07
Carl Sandburg College played a doubleheader at Muscatine College today.
In the first game Carl Sandburg College lost 9-0 in 5 innings with Sandburg have a rough day at the plate. Muscatine Held Carl Sandburg College to 1 hit in the game which came in the second inning by Jodi Medendorp. Amanda Anderson Was on the mound for Carl Sandburg College and she was tagged for the loss give up 9 runs on 11 hits.
In the second game of the day Carl Sandburg College loss 8-0 in six innings with just two hits a double from Kelsy Pacheco and a double from Jenna Archdale. Archdale took the pitching loss giving up 8 runs 6 earned on 9 hits for the game.

Rockford, IL 03-24-07
Chargers sweep Rock Valley The Chargers won their first game of the 2007 campaign with a 6-3 victory. The Chargers were led by Amanda Anderson who pitched a complete game, giving up just 1 earned run on 7 hits with 6 strike-outs and 3 walks. Offensively the Chargers were also led by Amanda Anderson who went 2/3 with 1 run and an RBI double. Heather Larson went 3/4 with 1 run and an RBI. Jodi Medendorp provided the power going 2/3 with 2 runs scored on a double and a triple.
The Chargers won their first extra-inning game of the year overcoming a disputed run awarded to the Golden Eagles in the 3rd inning. Amanda Anderson won her second contest of the year, holding Rock Valley scoreless in the final 3 innings of the game. The Chargers were led by Jodi Medendorp who went 4/4 with 1 run and 2 RBI's. Jenna Archdale went 3/4, scoring 3 runs. Holly Billman was 3/5 with 1 run and a double.
Carl Sandburg College improved their record on the season to 2-2. The Charger's home opener scheduled for Sunday, March 25th versus Highland CC has been rained out. The Chargers next play Monday March 26, 2007 @ Muscatine Community College in Burlington, Iowa.
Assistant Coach Lynnae Touchette stated that the coaching staff "are very pleased with the first two victories of the season, both come from behind victories". Coach Winkler stated that "the women are starting to play as a team and getting used to one another as team-mates". "With 5 players only recently joining the team after playing in the NCJAA National Tournament in Phoenix, AZ the team has only been able to practice together, outside for 1 ½ hours". "We are extremely excited with our early season progress."

Malta, IL 03-20-07
Carl Sandburg College Softball Team played their first doubleheader today with the number 17 ranked team in the nation Kishwaukee College at Malta Illinois.
In the first game Sandburg played hard going in to the bottom of the 4th down only 3 to 2. Kishwaukee then scored 7 runs in the last two frames to defeat Carl Sandburg College 10 to 2. For Sandburg Holly Billman went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs, Former West Central player Shayna Heap went 1 for 3 with a runs scored and Brianna McBurney went 1 for 1 with a run scored. Amanda Anderson was tagged with the loss throwing 6 innings giving up 14 hits and 8 earned runs two K's and 2 BB on the day in her first start.
In the night cap Sandburg went down to Kishwaukee 8 to 5 in a very good game. At the plate Sandburg had some bright Spots with Heap going 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a stolen base, Jodi Medendorp going 3 for 4 with a run scored and 2 RBIs and Heather Larson going 2 for 3 with a RBI. Jenna Archdale took the loss going 6 innings giving up 6 earned runs on 8 hits with 4 Ks and 1 walk, at the plate Archdale help her cause going 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
Coach Winkler, Today I was happy how our team played with this being our first game and Kishwaukee already having 11 games under Their belt. We have five basketball players on the team this year so it has slow us up a little bit these five girls have had no time to practice with us so hopefully thing will improve. I have to give credit to all the players today for coming together and playing so well.
