The Carl Sandburg College literacy coalition improves the reading and basic math skills of adults and their families by offering one-on-one and small group tutoring services. A student support group also provides encouragement for the literacy students. Special literacy tutor training sessions prepare volunteers interested in helping other adults learn to read or improve their reading skills. The Literacy Coalition's main office is located at the Adult Learning Center on the Galesburg campus and has several satellite offices throughout the district, including the Branch Campus in Carthage and the Extension Center in Bushnell.
