With so many colleges to choose from as a graduating high school senior, Lindsay Smith couldn’t decide what her best option was since she was undecided in her career path so she opted to start at Carl Sandburg College.
While at CSC, Smith’s goals were simple: get her transfer degree and start exploring different career options so she would make the right choice in attending a four-year university.
“I felt like there was no reason in going away and having no idea what I was going to do and waste money. I came here and I actually figured it out instead of wasting time somewhere else not knowing what I wanted to do,” said Smith.
Now she has a clear career path in mind deciding on fashion merchandising and Smith is leaning into going to Bradley University after attending a college fair at CSC.
“Basically the College Night fair offered here let me go around to all the schools to see what they offered. It worked out having every college in one room instead of going to all the different Web sites because it was easier to talk to them and have them explain the options in person,” said Smith.
Smith will graduate May 2010, and after two years at CSC she has realized that her decision to start here will enable her to finish where she wants to.
“Now all my friends are already taking out loans, or their parents are paying for them and they will have to pay them back, so they are already in debt and I’m not at all,” says Smith.
