What is COMPASS?

• COMPASS is an academic placement test which measures students´ writing, reading & mathematics skills
• Test scores are used to place students into courses appropriate for their skill level.
• Test are untimed, thus reducing test anxiety
• Immediate on-site (score) results are available upon completion of test.
   

Steps before COMPASS:
1. Complete detachable registration form (Print out COMPASS form here).
Note: To print out Registration Form you will need the free Acrobat Reader software
Note: You must be pre-registered prior to taking the test.
3. Report to Assessment Center (Room A-001) at (309) 341-5323. COMPASS will begin promptly as scheduled.
4. Complete COMPASS on scheduled day (3 test sections/untimed).  Allow 2 hours for testing

Steps after COMPASS:
1. Schedule an appointment with a counselor — either walk in or call (309) 341-5237.
2. Meet with counselor to select and register for classes.

Testing accommodations are available for people with disabilities. Documentation of disability must be provided prior to testing day. For more information, call

NOTE: All entering students are required to complete COMPASS.  (Some students are exempt from the testing requirements please see a counselor for a determination.)
