Sandburg Theatre Presents Tony-Nominated Play ‘Luv’ May 5-8

GALESBURG — Carl Sandburg College Theatre returns to the stage with Murray Schisgal’s Tony Award-nominated comedy “Luv” from May 5-8 in the Fine Arts Theater on Sandburg’s Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd.

Directed by Sandburg theater instructor Robert Thompson, “Luv” tells of two college friends who are reunited when Milt (played by Sandburg student Geoffrey Paris) prevents Harry (Sandburg student Tyler Bitar) from jumping off a bridge. As they share their hard-luck stories, they discover they’re equally miserable, and Milt tries to use Harry to solve his biggest problem — his wife, Ellen (Sandburg alumna Kaitlyn Pleshko).

In addition to the performance on stage, music narration for the show will be provided by local jazz duo Pippi Ardennia and Daniel L. Leahy.

“It is an amazing opportunity to be able to bring these two beloved Galesburg performers to the Sandburg stage,” Thompson said.

A free preview for Sandburg students, faculty and staff with a College ID will take place at 7:30 p.m. on May 5. Showtimes for public performances are 7:30 p.m. May 6-7 and 2 p.m. May 8. Tickets are $5 each and are available at the door starting 30 minutes prior to each show.
