Resources offered to students are not limited the ones on campus. The Helping Hand Booklet includes an extensive list of community organizations with free resources and services in Knox County and surrounding areas. Topics provided in the Helping Hand Booklet include, but are not limited to, food resources, transportation, childcare, employment, LGBTQ+ resources, and intercultural support .

HOMELESS LIAISON

The Helping Hand Booklet contains referral information for many local agencies that can help individuals who are experiencing homelessness. There are many sections that may be helpful, but the sections on disaster assistance and meal services, general assistance, housing, legal concerns, money management, transportation, utilities assistance, and veterans military assistance may be particularly helpful and are good starting points when using the guide.

TIMELYCARE

As a Sandburg student, you have FREE access to telehealth services.  Providers are available to offer medical and mental health support via phone or secure video. 

Services offered include:

  • Medical (24/7): on-demand or scheduled access to a medical provider that can treat a wide range of common illnesses like cold and flu, sinus infection, allergies, and more
  • TalkNow (24/7): on-demand access to a mental health professional to talk about anything at anytime
  • Scheduled Counseling: scheduled appointments to meet with a licensed counselor (limit 6 per year)
  • Psychiatry: scheduled appointments available through a campus counseling referral
  • Free classes – yoga, meditation, and other wellness oriented sessions (Available for students and staff

Visits can happen from any web-enabled device – smartphone, laptop, or desktop. TimelyCare is available from anywhere in the United States.

COPING WITH ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, AND STRESS

Silver Cloud: provided by OSF HealthCare.  This is a free online, self-paced interactive program designed to provide healing tools and coping techniques to deal with anxiety, depression and stress.  It is completely confidential. There are 6-7 interactive modules that contain, text, video and audio clips and journaling activities.   Available 24/7 on a computer, tablet or mobile phone. MENTAL HEALTH SCREENING TOOLS

DATING VIOLENCE – NOT ON MY CAMPUS

MANAGING STRESS

In this stress management video, you will gain some new insights about stress and how it might be impacting you as well as tips for managing your stress and time. Adjunct professor Rhonda Nelson at Carl Sandburg College discusses stress and management techniques to use in our personal and professional lives as we navigate our ever-increasing online world.

YOGA FOR WELLNESS

In this yoga video, enjoy 30 minutes of seated, standing, balance, and reclining poses appropriate for beginners and beyond. This practice will help alleviate stress by connecting our breath to our movement with certified yoga instructor Laura Bush.
