How do I apply?

Complete an application and turn it in to the TRIO SSS office in E136. You can find a link to our application at the top of this page or pick one up in the TRIO SSS office. To be accepted in the TRIO SSS program, a student must meet the following criteria.

  • Be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
  • Be a first generation college student – neither parent holds a baccalaureate degree.
  • Be income eligible based on federal guidelines
  • Show a need for academic support in order to pursue successfully a program of education beyond secondary school.
  • Be enrolled in a transfer program

Intake Process

Once a student turns in an application and meets eligibility criteria, an intake meeting is scheduled with the Program Director. At the completion of the first meeting, the Director will schedule the second intake appointment with the TRIO SSS Academic Advisor to discuss the studentīs degree plan, transfer options, and concerns regarding coursework. Once a student successfully completes the two intake meetings, he/she will receive a letter of acceptance into the TRIO SSS program. The student is then asked to meet with the TRIO SSS Administrative Assistant for an orientation to the SSS program.

TRIO SSS students are asked to complete at least four contacts with the TRIO SSS program each semester.  Contacts include meeting with staff, attendance to workshops or cultural activities, participation in the peer/professional mentoring program, etc.
