Welcome to Carl Sandburg College of Nursing!

Our programs prepare graduates for beginning level practice as Registered Nurses through an Associate in Applied Science Degree and as a Licensed Practical Nurses through Certification. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses after successful program completion.

One of the strengths of the College of Nursing is its small size and diversity offering admission to 40 students in the Associate Degree and 40 students in the Practical Nursing Program. There is also a Distance Learning opportunity for the Practical Nursing provided in the Evening between the Galesburg and Carthage Campus, which accepts 20 students on each campus.

The smaller class sizes offer more flexibility in maximizing opportunities for learning and interaction with faculty and other students. Teaching is student centered with often more communication. Students feel they belong to a group. Faculty have more time to provide detailed feedback so students get a better sense of how they are improving and where they need to work harder. Nursing education is an ongoing process of encouraging growth in competence, critical thinking, and collaboration. Student/faculty communication provides opportunities for the student to access educational services that support professional development and enhance personal growth.

Carl Sandburg College relates to the health care needs of people of the area and the need for nursing education.

I encourage you to explore our website to learn more about our programs and continuing nursing education options.
