GED and Pre-GED Programs

GED (General Education Development) classes are for adults who have not completed high school.  Students prepare to take the GED exam to earn a High School Equivalency Certificate.  Each spring graduates are invited to participate in a GED graduation ceremony at Carl Sandburg College.

Pre-GED classes provide instruction to adults in basic reading, math, and writing as well as skills needed in everyday life.  Adults who need basic literacy skills enroll in Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes.   Students progress at an individual pace.
