RDG 088  Phonics-Basic Reading
This course emphasizes phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, vocabulary development, and basic comprehension.  Writing and spelling skills are integrated with the reading done in this class.
 
RDG 090  Reading Development
Because college requires a significant amount of reading, you want to be sure your reading skills are sharp.  This class teaches strategies to develop vocabulary, flexible reading rates, and comprehension.
 
RDG 092  Reading Comprehension
This class focuses on strategies for reading comprehension and critical reading.  Also, vocabulary development and methods for effectively reading and understanding textbooks are reviewed.
 
RDG 096  College Survival Skills
This class strengthens your reading and teaches you critical skills that are necessary for college success.  You also learn methods for studying and getting the most from your textbooks and college courses.
 
RDG 120  Strategies for Success in College
This course will introduce students to strategies that promote success in college.  Students will explore internal factors that influence success in college, including learning styles, educational objectives and personal expectations.  External factors, including locus of control and generational  influences will also be explored.  Students will also be introduced to the specific skill sets necessary for success in college, including time-management skills, critical thinking and reading skills, test-taking skills, goal-setting skills and problem solving skills.  Students will also be introduced to college resources when appropriate.

ENG 094  English Fundamentals 1
This course is for the writer who needs to develop basic writing skills.  You will review basic grammar along with the steps to establish clear organization, unity, and coherence in paragraphs and essays.
 
ENG 098  English Fundamentals 2
This course develops writing so you can write compositions for college classes.  You will concentrate on writing well organized, accurately stated, skillfully worded paragraphs and essays along with learning to recognize and correct errors in grammar and usage.

MAT 090  Arithmetic Fundamentals
This course is for students who need to improve basic arithmetic skills as well as skills in fractions, decimals, percents, and ratios.
 
MAT 093  Fundamentals of Algebra
This course is for students who have not had algebra in high school or who need a review of basic algebra.
 
MAT 095  Geometry & Trig Review
This course is for students who did not take geometry or trigonometry in high school as well as those who did take those subjects but now need a review.
 
MAT 097  Geometry
This course will introduce students to undefined terms, axioms and postulates, and theorems.  Specific topics include plane and solid geometry, properties of congruence, similarity, ratio and proportion, area, perimeter, and volume of basic figures.  Constructions and the writing of inductive, deductive, and indirect proofs will be included.
