Steps to Apply
1. Submit an application*
Online
• Complete and submit an online application.
In Person
• Go to the Admissions Office in Galesburg or to the office at either our Bushnell or Carthage locations or to the Admissions Office at either the Keokuk or West Burlington locations of Southeastern Community College.
NOTE: If you are planning to apply for financial aid, do it now at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Carl Sandburg College’s school code is 007265. Check for other scholarships at 309-341-5283. For more information regarding financial aid, please visit our Financial Aid web site.
2. Transcripts
Contact your high school or any college you have attended and ask that an official copy of your transcript or GED scores be sent to Carl Sandburg College, Admissions & Records Office, 2400 Tom L Wilson Blvd., Galesburg, IL 61401.
3. Wait for a letter of admission
The College will send a letter of admission within two weeks after receiving your application. You will also be notified when your transcripts have been received. Please call the Admissions & Records Office at 309-341-5237 if you have any questions.
4. Placement Assessment
All new students are required to complete the College’s placement examination, COMPASS. This exam enables the advisors to accurately place incoming students in appropriate classes to match incoming students’ skill levels in mathematics, reading, and writing. Please call the Assessment Center at 309-341-5323 to schedule a time to complete COMPASS.
5. Orientation
New students are required to complete the online orientation prior to meeting with an advisor. Please click this link to reach our Online Orientation site.
6. Academic Advising
Meet with an advisor for assistance with selecting the appropriate courses. Call 309-341-5237 for an appointment with an advisor at the Galesburg campus; 309-772-2177 for the Bushnell location; 217-357-3129 for the Carthage location; or 319-752-2731 for Southeastern Community College.
7. Registration
You are eligible to register for classes either during your academic advising session or following this session.
8. Pay for Classes
Check our academic calendar for the due date for tuition payment. You may call the Business Office at 309-341-5210 if you have any questions.
9. Student ID
Student Identification Cards are available in the LRC on the Galesburg Campus as well as in the offices at either Bushnell or Carthage locations.

*International Students need to follow the steps listed above. In addition to submitting an application and all required transcripts, international students also need to submit an affidavit of financial support and official score reports from the TOEFL exam prior to being sent a letter of admission.
