GALESBURG — Students in the Carl Sandburg College nursing program donated more than 150 canned and nonperishable goods to FISH Food Pantry in Galesburg on Monday.

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College Community Garden had yet another bountiful season in 2016, donating nearly two tons of produce to local organizations.
 

Behind 743 hours of work done solely by volunteers, the garden produced 3,972 pounds of food that went to those in need this year, nearly exceeding last year’s record number of 4,002 pounds.

GALESBURG — Michael Pittman went to a taping of “The Price is Right” this summer with $3 in his bank account.

 

He walked out having won three new cars.

 

Pittman, a 2012 graduate of Carl Sandburg College, took home nearly $74,000 in prizes during the episode of the classic daytime game show that aired Wednesday.

 

“My mindset going in was, ‘I need a vehicle,’” Pittman said. “As it turned out, I got three.”

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team has been awarded a $2,000 mini-grant from the Illinois Women’s Golf Association’s Victory Fund.

CARTHAGE — Marlie Burt is 75 miles from the classmates she’s working with on a group project, but she doesn’t have to move at all to be next to them when they meet.
 

Burt, who lives in LaHarpe and attends classes at Carl Sandburg College’s Branch Campus in Carthage, collaborates with her classmates by using a telepresence robot located on the Main Campus in Galesburg, where the others in her police administration and management course meet.
