GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College study abroad program will host a hunger banquet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Student Center on the Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd., as a fundraiser for its trips to China and Germany in 2017.

Upon arrival, guests will be randomly assigned a global income level and will enjoy a meal tailored to that level as a way to raise social awareness about hunger and income inequality throughout the world.…

GALESBURG — Get your start in the growing field of healthcare by enrolling in a 13-week pharmacy technician course for the 2017 spring semester through Carl Sandburg College’s Corporate & Leisure College.

GALESBURG — Michael Pittman went to a taping of “The Price is Right” this summer with $3 in his bank account.


He walked out having won three new cars.


Pittman, a 2012 graduate of Carl Sandburg College, took home nearly $74,000 in prizes during the episode of the classic daytime game show that aired Wednesday.


“My mindset going in was, ‘I need a vehicle,’” Pittman said. “As it turned out, I got three.”

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College dental hygiene clinic is offering half-price services through Nov. 30 at the Sandburg Annex, 209 E. Main St., for Dental Hygiene Month.

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team has been awarded a $2,000 mini-grant from the Illinois Women’s Golf Association’s Victory Fund.

CARTHAGE — Marlie Burt is 75 miles from the classmates she’s working with on a group project, but she doesn’t have to move at all to be next to them when they meet.

Burt, who lives in LaHarpe and attends classes at Carl Sandburg College’s Branch Campus in Carthage, collaborates with her classmates by using a telepresence robot located on the Main Campus in Galesburg, where the others in her police administration and management course meet.

GALESBURG — Carl Sandburg College made a difference in Andrea Ferretti Vitale’s life. Now she wants to challenge others in her community to do the same for Sandburg students.



Vitale has made a $5,000 donation to the Carl Sandburg College Foundation’s annual fund, and the longtime Galesburg resident has pledged to donate another $5,000 if $100,000 is raised for the Foundation’s annual fund by the end of next September.
