FREEPORT—The Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team ended its regular season with a second-place finish at an Arrowhead Conference match hosted by Highland on Tuesday at Park Hills Golf Course.

 

The Chargers ended the conference season in second place, two points behind Black Hawk in the team standings. Sandburg needed to win Tuesday’s match to clinch at least a share of the Arrowhead title.

GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College baseball team closed the final weekend of the regular season by taking three of four games at Prairie State and Rock Valley. The Chargers saw Prairie State snap their six-game winning streak but rebounded to earn a split on Saturday. GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College softball players Jordyn Chasteen and Brooke Howard have been named to the all-Region IV District A team for their play this season.

PORT BYRON—The Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team posted its best round of the season and finished second at an Arrowhead Conference match hosted by Black Hawk on Wednesday at Byron Hills Golf Course.

 

The Chargers shot 295 as a team, finishing only behind Black Hawk’s 288. Illinois Valley was third at 328 and Sauk Valley came in fourth at 330. Sandburg’s previous season low was a 306 in the second round of the Scot-Fire Invite.
