Establishing Scholarships with the Carl Sandburg College Foundation

The Carl Sandburg College Foundation is continually looking for new scholarship donors to provide assistance to CSC students. If you are interested in establishing a scholarship with the Carl Sandburg College Foundation, the Foundation welcomes two kinds of scholarships: Endowment Scholarships and Annual Scholarships.

Endowment Scholarships

When an individual or organization establishes an endowed scholarship, the gift is set aside as principal to be invested in perpetuity. Only the income from the principal is distributed as scholarship awards. It is recommended that endowed scholarships be established with a minimum gift of $10,000, but Emerging Endowments may be established with a lesser amount. Naturally the larger the principal, the greater number of scholarships the Foundation may award. The Foundation encourages the establishment of endowed scholarships. For individuals, it is a lasting tribute in honor or in memory of loved ones. For organizations, it is an opportunity to provide perpetual support for students at Carl Sandburg College.

Annual Scholarships

Annual scholarships are established as a short-term, renewable gift. When a donor establishes an annual scholarship, the entire gift is awarded to a student or students. (We request that annual scholarships be $500 or more per academic year.)

The CSC Foundation encourages donors who plan to make long-term scholarship donations to consider establishing an endowment. Often donors ask that part of their contribution be used for an annual scholarship and a portion be set aside to build an endowment for future scholarships.
