Visit four cities in one day! On this day trip, you will discover some hidden gems in the Quad Cities area. The day begins with a visit to the Hauberg home, also known as the “Tulip Mansion,” in Rock Island. The tulip, Mrs. Hauberg’s favorite flower, is featured in designs throughout the inside and outside of the home. The Haubergs began living in the house in 1911 and the family later donated the structure to be used as the Hauberg Civic Center. Following our tour, we will stop at the German American Heritage Center & Museum to view their large permanent exhibit and two rotating special exhibits. Visitors also have a chance to participate in interactive exhibits, while learning about German heritage. For lunch, we will dine at The 11th Street Precinct in the Village of East Davenport. Burgers, sandwiches, and salads are just a few of their menu choices. Succeeding lunch, we travel to Wallace Garden Center, in Bettendorf, for a tour of their greenhouse and an overview on home landscaping and growing vegetables. Our day concludes with a visit to Dot’s Pots in Moline. Dot will talk about her pottery business and show off her latest creations. There will be an opportunity to shop from her onsite pottery gift store. No visit to the Quad Cities would be complete without a stop at Whitey’s Ice Cream! Choose a sweet treat from their extensive menu. Day trip cost includes transportation and admission to the attractions. Lunch, snacks, and shopping expenses are at your own cost. Planned arrival time is 10:00 a.m., we will depart around 4:30 p.m. Space is limited, minimum of 10 required. Registration required by Wednesday, April 4, 2018.
