We all know the basic elements of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth. However, did  you know of the famous trial of the eight conspirators and one local Civil War soldier from Knox County who served as a judge on the military tribunal and sat in judgment of those charged in Lincoln’s murder. In 1865, David Clendenin of Knox County, an honored officer, was one of the military officers who would render a verdict in this case. From matters of tragic facts to serious Constitutional controversies, you will learn during this class how the trial was handled and the role of this Knox County officer.
