CARTHAGE—Carl Sandburg College will present the “Blockbuster Firsts” film series during the 2013 spring semester at the Sandburg Auditorium, 1160 Buchanan St., Carthage. The series will include the first films in four of the most popular Blockbuster franchises ever made.
The series begins Jan. 29 with “Star Wars,” released in 1977 and starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. It will be followed by the 1981 hit “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark,” featuring Harrison Ford, Karen Allen and Paul Freeman, on Feb. 19; “Back to the Future,” released in 1985 and starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, on March 26; and “Batman,” released in 1989 and starring Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton and Kim Basinger, on April 23.
