WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa—The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team lost 78-66 on Thursday at Southeastern Iowa. The Chargers (6-4) trailed 37-28 at halftime and cut Southeastern’s lead to as little as little as five points with 6 minutes, 3 second to go before the Blackhawks pulled away.
Freshman forward Mitch Wendling (Athens, Ill./Athens) led Sandburg with 16 points.
“We just couldn’t quite get over the hump,” Chargers coach Ryan Twaddle said. “We’ve been in a little slump lately, and it was great to see us put that behind us and play better tonight. We must continue to get better and grow as a team.”
Sandburg will host Clinton at 3 p.m. Saturday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
