CLINTON, Iowa—Four players scored in double figures to help the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team beat Clinton (Iowa) 73-64 on Saturday and extend the Chargers’ winning streak to six games.
Freshman guard Reggie Anderson (Decatur, Ill./MacArthur) had a team-leading 17 points while sophomore guard Juwan Hubbard (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) scored 13, sophomore forward Aaron Powers (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) scored 12 and sophomore guard Zach Ziemba (Emden, Ill./Hartsburg-Emden) added 10 points.
The Chargers (7-3) took a 36-24 lead into halftime and led 52-33 with 13 minutes to go.
“We need to close out games better. We were winning 52-33 with 13 minutes left and let them back into the game,” Sandburg coach Ryan Twaddle said. “It was good to see our bench play well again tonight. We need to have a good week of practice. We have some very tough games coming up to close out the semester.”
The Chargers will begin a four-game homestand at 3 p.m. Saturday against St. Ambrose JV at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
