GALESBURG—Galesburg High School’s Madison Fuller and Erie High School’s Skylar Neely-Houzenga have signed to play next season for the Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team.

Fuller, a 5-foot-3 senior, was part of the Silver Streaks team that won Western Big 6 Conference and Class AA regional titles in 2011, and she helped Galesburg qualify for the Class AA sectionals this past fall. Fuller didn’t begin to play golf competitively until her junior year of high school.

“I had to learn all the fundamentals as a junior, but I’ve progressed a lot since then,” Fuller said. “I like that Sandburg is hometown-based, and Coach (Mike) Bailey really wanted me to come be a part of the team.”

Neely-Houzenga, a 5-5 senior, led the Cardinals in scoring last season with a 48.7 average per nine holes. She finished third at last fall’s Three Rivers Conference meet to earn all-conference honors and advanced to the Class A sectionals.
