MOLINE—Sophomore guard Juwan Hubbard (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) scored 21 points to lead the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team to a 67-62 Arrowhead Conference victory at Black Hawk on Thursday night.

The Chargers (15-10, 5-4) also got 15 points from sophomore forward Aaron Powers (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) and 12 from freshman guard Vince Gooden (Markham, Ill./Tinley Park) in winning their third straight game. Sandburg also completed a season sweep of the Braves.

“I thought we played with a lot of effort and energy tonight,” Chargers coach Ryan Twaddle said. “We were able to get the ball to the rim late and we did a great job of attacking the basket. Jared Entwistle hit a big 3 for us at the end to help secure the win.”

The Chargers will go for their fourth straight win when they travel to face South Suburban at 3 p.m. Saturday in nonconference play.
