GALESBURG—Students in Carl Sandburg College’s art and welding programs will test their mettle against one another with a friendly competition Saturday in Building G on the Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd.
Teams consisting of one artist and up to three welders will have from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. to create a welded sculpture from the scrap materials on hand. Local sculptor Tom Lyttle will serve as the juror for the competition. The event is being coordinated by the welding and art departments to promote collaboration and make use of materials that otherwise may have gone to waste.
