GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College hired three employees following approval by the Board of Trustees at its regular monthly meeting held in February. Stacey Rucker was hired as resource development specialist, and Nicky Smith was hired as student information assistant. Michael O’Connell was hired as administrative assistant for TRIO Upward Bound and the Testing Center. All three will be employed at the Main Campus in Galesburg.
Rucker previously worked for Sandburg as the student information assistant in the Department of Marketing and Public Relations. She also has worked as an assistant manager for the Sandburg Mall in Galesburg. Rucker possesses a Bachelor of Arts degree from Knox College and has experience in special event coordination.
Smith has 15 years of experience in customer service from positions at Statham, Long and Mitchell law firm; Security Finance Corporation; and All Seasons Tanning. She possesses a medical administrative specialist certificate from Sandburg.
O’Connell also serves as an administrative specialist in the United States Army Reserve. O’Connell has earned the rank of sergeant and possesses more than eight years of administrative experience. He holds an Associate of Applied Science in criminal justice from Elgin Community College and a Bachelor of Science in law enforcement and justice administration from Western Illinois University.
Rucker and Smith both began their positions March 1. O’Connell will begin his position April 1.
