Sandburg Men’s Hoops Signs Pair of Transfers from Clinton

GALESBURG—Samuel Bil and Travis Witt have signed to play next season for the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team. Both played this past season as freshmen at Clinton (Iowa) Community College.
 

A 6-foot-4 forward from Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Kennedy High School, Bill played in all 28 games and averaged 8.7 points and 3.2 rebounds as a freshman for the Cougars last season. He averaged 9.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in two matchups against Sandburg last year, and he was a member of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference all-academic team.
 

A 6-2 guard from Clinton (Iowa) Prince of Peace College Prep, Witt played in 16 games for the Cougars last season, averaging 8.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He also shot 74.2 percent from the free-throw line and was a member of the ICCAC all-academic team. At Prince of Peace, Witt was a first-team All-Big East Conference selection.
 

Bil and Witt will join a Chargers team that is coming off the program’s first Region IV tournament championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division II national tournament for the first time in its history.
