GALESBURG—Joey Olden of Lincoln High School and De’Andre Alexander and Darius Millican of Springfield Lanphier High School have signed to play next season for the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team.
A 6-foot guard, Olden averaged seven points and 1.5 rebounds per game as a starter for the Railers, who finished a program-best 34-3, placed second in the Class 3A state tournament, were ranked first in the Class 3A poll and tied Lanphier for the Central State 8 Conference championship. Olden shot 60 percent from the floor and made 46 percent of his shots from beyond the arc, helping him earn special mention All-CS8 honors.
Alexander and Millican were starters for a Lions team that finished 27-2, won a regional title, was ranked second in the Class 3A poll and shared the CS8 title with Lincoln this past season. Both players also earned special mention All-CS8 honors. A 6-foot-5 forward, Millican averaged nine points and six rebounds during his senior season. Alexander, a 6-3 forward, averaged eight points and five boards per game for the Lions last season.
Olden, Alexander and Millican join a Chargers team that is coming off the program’s first Region IV tournament championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division II national tournament for the first time in its history.
