GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team had four players score in double figures in a 97-68 Arrowhead Conference victory over Black Hawk East on Thursday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
Sandburg (16-9, 5-4) led 55-28 at halftime as it snapped a three-game losing streak. The Chargers’ 97 points were their most since a 100-78 victory Dec. 18 at McHenry County.
Freshman forward Aaron Powers (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) led the Chargers with 17 points and freshman guard Juwan Hubbard (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) scored 14. Sophomore guard Zach Grover (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) finished with 13 points and backcourt mate Seth Wickert (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) added 12.
“We had a great team effort tonight,” Chargers coach Ryan Twaddle said. “Everyone on the roster scored, which is always great to see. Zach Grover hit some tough shots for us in the second half and got into a nice rhythm shooting.”
Sandburg’s next game is 3 p.m. Saturday at Illinois Valley.
