GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award through the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its budget, which marks the fourth consecutive year Sandburg has received the award.
Sandburg received the award after satisfying nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.
“We are pleased to have once again received this award,” chief financial officer and treasurer Lisa Blake said. “We continue to enhance our budget each year with suggestions from the GFOA. Our commitment is to present a budget document that communicates our future plans and financial impact.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association that serves nearly 17,400 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
