GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College TRIO Upward Bound program is accepting applications for program participants for the 2013-2014 school year.
Applicants must be Knox County students in the Abingdon, Galesburg, Knoxville or ROWVA school districts; currently be in eighth, ninth or 10th grade and meet program eligibility criteria. Students must be first-generation college-bound students and/or meet income guidelines.

Students may also contact their school guidance counselor for information. The application deadline is April 19. There is no limit to the number of applications that can be accepted. The program typically serves about 65 students annually. There is no cost to participate in Upward Bound.
The Sandburg Upward Bound program is a federally funded program under the U.S. Department of Education that provides educational, social and cultural services to selected Knox County students. The goals of the program are to assist students in achieving academic success while in high school, develop well-rounded citizens and assist students with their transition into post-secondary education, with the goal of obtaining a four-year degree.
