GALESBURG—Sophomore forward Marysa Remick (Victoria, Ill./ROWVA) scored 13 points and was one of 11 Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball players to put up points in the Chargers’ 70-44 victory over Elgin on Saturday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
Facing a 2-3 zone for much of the contest, Sandburg (2-0) knocked down 12 3-pointers against the Spartans (1-1), the defending Region IV champions.
“We played a nice game today. With the exception of some second shots we gave up in the first half, we like where we are at this stage of the season,” Chargers coach Mike Bailey said. “We played 14 kids in both halves, and it says a lot about the depth of our squad.”
Jen Dumoulin had a game-high 16 points for Elgin.
The Chargers play their first road game at noon Saturday when they face Waubonsee.
