SOMERS, Wis.—The Carl Sandburg College men’s cross country team finished 18th and the women’s team 21st at the Lucian Ross Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore Haley Bolliger led the Chargers by finishing 135th in the 5-kilometer women’s race with a time of 20 minutes, 4 seconds. Sandburg’s six other women’s runners each finished within 24 spots of each other. Bayleigh Harrison was 257th in 23:35, Marisa Miller 258th in 23:39, Christina Kokjohn 262nd in 23:50, Kenzie Payton 265th in 24:11, Abbie Billeter 271st in 24:46 and Tessa Vowels 281st in 25:57.
Northwestern won the women’s team title with 57 points, and Ferris State’s Samantha Johnson was the individual champion with a time of 17:25.
Rimirez Black post the Chargers’ best time in the 8K men’s race, finishing in 29:46 for 203rd place. Other finishers for Sandburg were John Peterson (219th, 30:35), David Kantor (224th, 31:04), Jeff Hilgenberg (231st, 31:39), Tyler Schuermann (241st, 32:42) and Jake Wolf (243rd, 33:08).
Windsor (Ontario) took the team title with 47 points. Bernard Keter of Cloud (Kan.) was the individual winner in 24:57.
The Chargers’ next event is the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday at Newman Golf Course in Peoria. The women’s race will take place at 3 p.m., followed by the men’s race at 3:40 p.m.
