GALESBURG—Abingdon-Avon High School graduate Dakota Nagel has signed to play next season for the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team.
A 6-foot-5 forward, Nagel averaged five points, eight rebounds and five blocks per game last season as a senior for the Tornadoes. He was named to the All-Prairieland Conference second team and helped A-Town to a 16-11 overall record.
“Dakota is a tremendous athlete who can block shots from anywhere on the floor,” Chargers coach Ryan Twaddle said. “We are excited to add this caliber of athlete to our strong recruiting class.”
Nagel joins a Chargers team that is coming off the program’s first Region IV tournament championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division II national tournament for the first time in its history.
He also joins a Sandburg recruiting class that includes incoming freshmen Tyson Parks IV (Galesburg), Joey Olden (Lincoln), De’Andre Alexander (Springfield Lanphier), Darius Millican (Springfield Lanphier), Trevor Lay (Wethersfield) and Sedrick Jones Jr. (Rockford Guilford) as well as transfers Samuel Bil and Travis Witt from Clinton (Iowa).
