Federal Work Study Program for Sandburg Students (2014-2015 School Year)
Work study eligibility is determined by the Financial Aid office. Contact the Financial Aid office for a Work Study application. To be considered for a work study job, you must be a Sandburg student registered for the current semester's classes and have a completed work study application on file in the Career Resources office. Work Study applications for 2014-2015 will be kept on file through June 30, 2015. Students eligible for the 2014-2015 Work Study program will be considered for positions beginning July 1, 2014. All work study positions are part-time, 20 hours per week maximum. Pay is Illinois minimum wage. UPS Package Delivery Driver - Galesburg, IL (8/20/14)
UPS is hiring individuals to work as full-time, temporary, seasonal Package Delivery Drivers. This is a physical, fast-paced, outdoor position that involves continual lifting, lowering and carrying packages that typically weigh 25 - 35 lbs. and may weigh up to 70 lbs. A DOT physical exam is required. Package Delivery Drivers must have excellent customer contact and driving skills, including the ability to operate a vehicle equipped with a standard (manual) transmission. Campus Safety Officer
Knox College seeks two (2) experienced, energetic, individuals to fill the position of Campus Safety Officer. One position is 32 hours per week, the other position is 40 hours per week. Both are full-time, 10-month, benefited positions reporting to the Director of Campus Safety.

Snack Bar Worker
Knox College is seeking a snack bar worker, 30 hours per week, 10 month position, varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.


Primary responsibilities include snack bar food preparation, POS and cash handling. Daily maintenance and upkeep of the snack bar including the kitchen, food service lines and beverage station.


Prepare food using the grill, fryer, conveyor oven and other made to order stations. Maintain service lines, storage areas, refrigeration units, beverage dispensers. Set up, replenish, refill and maintain hot and cold food wells. Operate equipment such as espresso machines, grills, ovens, coffee and smoothie dispensers. Maintain sanitation requirements in accordance with Health Department standards. Responsible for cash and credit/debit card transactions. Must be able to follow instructions and work closely with fellow Dining Services staff, as well as ability to direct and assist student and temporary employees. May work in any or all dining service units.


Qualifications: Two years high volume cooking experience and high school diploma or equivalent required. Must have basic math skills, and be able to read and follow instructions, sanitation certification highly desirable, and ability to move or lift up to 50 pounds.

Senior Administrative Assistant

Nanny - Galesburg, IL (8/19/14)
I am looking for a reliable person to provide childcare in our Galesburg home. We have 2 boys, 8yrs. and 13 yrs.  We also have a very friendly golden retriever.  I am looking for a sitter for both before and after school hours.  This could be the same person, OR the job could be divided into a morning and afternoon person. 


I would need someone from 7am-10am.  The morning sitter would take our 8yr to Silas Elementary School for a 9am start time and then let the dog out and maybe do a load of laundry or run to the grocery store if needed. 


I also need someone from 2:45 - 6pm to pick up the boys after school (Churchill and Silas) and drop them off / pick them up from practices if needed.  The boys are both very independent in homework and around the house. This position begins mid-September and pays $10 plus gas money.

Tire Technician - Monmouth, IL (8/11/14)
Keister's Tire Center in Monmouth, IL seeks to hire a tire technician. Install, service, repair, and balance tires on customer vehicles in accordance with work orders.


Essential Duties:

  • Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply.
  • Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels.
  • Raise vehicles, using hydraulic jacks.
  • Remount wheels onto vehicles.
  • Locate punctures in tubeless tires by visual inspection or by immersing inflated tires in water baths and observing air bubbles.

  • Carry and shelve merchandise inventory; may also pull and package merchandise for return to vendors. Straightens merchandise, stocks shelves, prices merchandise and may assist in setting up displays and signs. May be required to mop, vacuum, clean shelves and take out trash.
  • Ensure inventory controls tags are removed and/or replaced on merchandise according to company standards as applicable.
  • Pick, process and pack orders for shipping in accordance with Retail Store Operations.
  • Fill in for other employees during absences, for breaks and lunches, and during periods of high volume.
  • May perform data entry or type simple correspondence including printing and system back-up.
  • Take inventory as needed and may have responsibility for ordering general merchandise items (snacks, beverages, newspapers, magazines, etc.).

Campaign Internships - Galesburg, IL (7/17/14)
The Bruce Rauner campaign is establishing an office in Galesburg to serve the surrounding areas.  In order to get the office up and going we are looking for interns and paid walkers.   There are a few different options available:  


1.  Full Time Unpaid Internship for Bruce Rauner
This internship would be during the day and would consist of various roles in the office.  The level of work being done will be dependent on the experience of the internship candidate.  This is a great way to develop experience.  After the internship, we will happily provide you with a letter of reference for your use with future employers and institutions.


2.  100 Hour Paid Walker for Bruce Rauner
The campaign will pay you $1000 a month to go door-to-door campaigning.  They are looking for interns to complete 25 hours a week or 100 hours a month.  The time designation for the walking would be during high volume times, primarily 3p-8p on weekdays and various times during the weekends.


3.  60 Hour Paid Walker for Bruce Rauner
The campaign will pay you $500 a month to go door-to-door campaigning.  They are looking for interns to complete 15 hours a week or 60 hours a month.  The time designation for the walking would be during high volume times, primarily 3p-8p on weekdays and various times during the weekends.


4.  Part Time Unpaid Internship for Bobby Schilling (Running for Congress)
This position is the same as the full time internship above but with part time commitment for those non-traditional students or students with families.
