Federal Work Study Program for Sandburg Students (2014-2015 School Year)
Work study eligibility is determined by the Financial Aid office. Contact the Financial Aid office for a Work Study application. To be considered for a work study job, you must be a Sandburg student registered for the current semester's classes and have a completed work study application on file in the Career Resources office. Work Study applications for 2014-2015 will be kept on file through June 30, 2015. Students eligible for the 2014-2015 Work Study program will be considered for positions beginning July 1, 2014. All work study positions are part-time, 20 hours per week maximum. Pay is Illinois minimum wage.   • Test EAS security system daily and approach customers who set off EAS system investigating alarms, resolving issue and logging EAS activations.
  • Receive, sort and open, as necessary, mail. May also take outgoing mail to mailbox or Post Office.
  • Carry and shelve merchandise inventory; may also pull and package merchandise for return to vendors. Straightens merchandise, stocks shelves, prices merchandise and may assist in setting up displays and signs. May be required to mop, vacuum, clean shelves and take out trash.
  • Ensure inventory controls tags are removed and/or replaced on merchandise according to company standards as applicable.
  • Pick, process and pack orders for shipping in accordance with Retail Store Operations.
  • Fill in for other employees during absences, for breaks and lunches, and during periods of high volume.
  • May perform data entry or type simple correspondence including printing and system back-up.
  • Take inventory as needed and may have responsibility for ordering general merchandise items (snacks, beverages, newspapers, magazines, etc.).
  • May provide customer service/sales functions for special events (including but not limited to author signings, graduation and athletic events)

Farm Service - Monmouth, IL (7/22/14)
Keisters, Inc. in Monmouth, IL seeks to hire a full-time farm service position. This position provides on-site, off-road, and on-road tire repair service to Keister's Farm-Fleet customers.

 

Essential Duties

  • Perform tire/tube/wheel repair or replace according to instructions provided on work order form.
  • Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply.
  • While in shop, place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels.
  • Raise vehicles, using hydraulic jacks.  Block vehicle from movement if on unstable ground.  Also block vehicle after jacked up to appropriate height.
  • Remount wheels onto vehicles.
  • Locate punctures in tubeless tires by visual inspection.
  • Unbolt wheels from vehicles and remove them, using air guns and other hand and power tools
  • Reassemble tires onto wheels.
  • Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
  • Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels.
  • Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles, using hand tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance on assigned service truck, assigned tools,and equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of necessary items for the assigned service truck.
  • Maintain a log record of all service calls and what was performed during each service call.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Maintain a Valid Class “C” Driver’s License
  • Maintain a Valid DOT medical certificate
  • Enroll in and pass TIA training course
  • Previous experience in similar role preferred

Mechanic - Macomb, IL (7/22/14)
Keisters, Inc. in Macomb, IL seeks to hire a full-time mechanic. We have a full-time opening for an experienced Auto Mechanic in our Macomb, IL store.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair of automobiles, trucks, buses, and other vehicles.

 

Essential duties:

  • Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as scan tools to diagnose engine codes, computerized diagnostic devices, and vehicle alignment machines.
  • Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
  • Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes.
  • Follow checklists to ensure all-important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
  • Confer with Service Manager or customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems, and to discuss work to be performed and future repair requirements.
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications.
  • Repair and service air conditioning (determined by store location), heating, engine-cooling systems.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications.
  • Review work orders and discuss work with Service Manager.
  • Tear down, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies such as power systems, steering systems, and linkages.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Previous experience in similar role preferred
  • ASE certification for Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Electrical/Electronic System (optional)

Phlebotomy Positions - Keokuk, IA (7/22/14)
Two full time phlebotomy positions are available in the Laboratory at Keokuk Area Hospital. The first position will be scheduled but not limited to 0600-1430. Campaign Internships - Galesburg, IL (7/17/14)
The Bruce Rauner campaign is establishing an office in Galesburg to serve the surrounding areas.  In order to get the office up and going we are looking for interns and paid walkers.   There are a few different options available:  

 

1.  Full Time Unpaid Internship for Bruce Rauner
This internship would be during the day and would consist of various roles in the office.  The level of work being done will be dependent on the experience of the internship candidate.  This is a great way to develop experience.  After the internship, we will happily provide you with a letter of reference for your use with future employers and institutions.

 

2.  100 Hour Paid Walker for Bruce Rauner
The campaign will pay you $1000 a month to go door-to-door campaigning.  They are looking for interns to complete 25 hours a week or 100 hours a month.  The time designation for the walking would be during high volume times, primarily 3p-8p on weekdays and various times during the weekends.

 

3.  60 Hour Paid Walker for Bruce Rauner
The campaign will pay you $500 a month to go door-to-door campaigning.  They are looking for interns to complete 15 hours a week or 60 hours a month.  The time designation for the walking would be during high volume times, primarily 3p-8p on weekdays and various times during the weekends.

 

4.  Part Time Unpaid Internship for Bobby Schilling (Running for Congress)
This position is the same as the full time internship above but with part time commitment for those non-traditional students or students with families.

Responsible for operating and maintaining machines that extrude or draw out thermoplastic or metal materials into hoses, bars, tubes, rods, wires, or structures.
 

Primary responsibilities
• Select machine dies.
