Women’s Golf Posts Spring Season-Best at UW-Whitewater Spring Fling

The Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team shaved 31 shots off its score from Round 1 to Round 2 in the Wisconsin-Whitewater Spring Fling on Friday and Saturday at the Beloit Club.
The Chargers totaled a 413 on Friday before posting a spring season-best 382 in Saturday’s final round. Carrie Raders (Lena, Ill./Lena-Winslow) led Sandburg with a 192 total (101-91) for the event, and Morgan Newton (Erie, Ill./Erie) was two shots behind at 104-90-194.
Callie Raders (Lena, Ill./Lena-Winslow) dropped her scored by nine shots in Round 2, shooting 104-95-199, and Jenna Heck (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) finished with a 104-106-210 for the tournament.
Sandburg's 795 total was 14th in the field of 16 teams, largely made up of four-year colleges. Illinois Wesleyan took first with a two-day score of 653.
The Chargers will conclude their spring season with the Augustana Viking Invite April 29-30 at Highland Springs in Rock Island.
