Ryan Hansen (Neponset, Ill./Kewanee) won medalist honors and was one of three Carl Sandburg College men’s golfers to be named to the All-Arrowhead Conference team Friday at Emerald Hills as the Chargers wrapped up their league schedule.

Hansen posted a 5-over-par 77 at Emerald Hills on a windy afternoon to edge Black Hawk’s Ryan Hurley by a stroke for medalist honors. It also vaulted Hansen to fifth in the All-Arrowhead standings, with a total of 311 for the season. The top 12 golfers are named to the all-conference team, with each players’ four lowest scores counting toward their total.

Hansen was joined by teammates Braxton Prather (Rushville, Ill./Rushville-Industry) and Nate Bizarri (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville), who placed 11th and 12th, respectively. Prather’s 91 on Friday put him at 326 for the conference season. Bizarri’s 83 left him a shot behind at 327 for the spring.

The Chargers finished the round at 337, good for second place, as they also clinched second place in the Arrowhead. Conference champion Black Hawk shot 318. Highland was fourth on Friday with a round of 351, and Illinois Valley totaled a 361.

Anthony Neve (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) carded an 86 for Sandburg, which also saw Colin Price (Mason City, Ill./Illini Central) shoot 90 and Michael Curry (Petersburg, Ill./PORTA) shoot 97.

While the Chargers concluded their spring schedule as a team, Hansen will participate in the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship from May 23-26 at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. It will be the fifth year in a row and the ninth time in the last 10 years the Chargers will be represented at nationals.
