Registration Available for 16-Week ESL Course at Sandburg

GALESBURG — Carl Sandburg College’s Corporate and Leisure College is offering a 16-week English as a Second Language (ESL) course from August 21 – December 13.

The class, Conversational English as a Second Language for Beginner Level, will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday’s and Wednesday’s in the Center for Manufacturing Excellence (CME) on Sandburg’s Main Campus in Galesburg, 2051 Tom L. Wilson Blvd. The class is limited to 12 students and costs $100, which includes a textbook. Pre-registration is required for this course.

This course is for adults whose native language is not English. Students will be given instruction and practice in speaking, writing and reading in English. Topics will include social interactions, employment, health, banking, housing, schooling and other related topics to improve students’ confidence in daily activities. Instructor Rose Ann Van Acker has taught seven years of language arts, including previous ESL courses at Sandburg.
