The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team will host Triton at 6 p.m. Wednesday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium in the quarterfinals of the Region IV District A tournament.
The Chargers (22-14) are the No. 3 seed among District A teams, while the Trojans (5-17) are the No. 6 seed from District B in the crossover-format tournament. The teams did not meet during the regular season.
The winner advances to the semifinals at noon Saturday on the campus of the College of Lake County in Grayslake. The championship match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Division II National Championship in Charleston, W.Va.
Bracket note
Should the top four overall seeds from District A —Sauk Valley, McHenry County, Sandburg and Waubonsee — advance to the championship round in both the District A and District B tournaments, the championship matches would be played according to seed. In that scenario, the Chargers would play No. 2 McHenry County and top-seeded Sauk Valley would face No. 4 Waubonsee. The District A and District B tournament champions each qualify for nationals.
