For the second year in a row, the Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team has been awarded a $2,000 mini-grant from the Illinois Women’s Golf Association’s Victory Fund.

The grant will assist the Chargers in covering the cost of tournaments, equipment, professional instruction and use of a simulator during winter for the 2017-18 season. Sandburg was one of nine schools to receive a mini-grant. The IWGA Victory Fund annually awards up to $20,000 to Illinois colleges and universities for their women’s golf teams to encourage young golfers to stay involved with the sport.

Founded in 1933, the IWGA is a volunteer organization devoted to advancing golf opportunities for the women and girls of Illinois by conducting state championship tournaments and through fundraising to support charitable contributions to individuals and organizations that embody the spirit of amateur golf.
