Sandburg Men’s Basketball Gets Votes in NJCAA Division II Poll

The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team’s strong start to the season netted it votes in the first NJCAA Division II poll of the regular season, released Tuesday afternoon.
The Chargers were tied for fourth among “others receiving votes,” good for No. 24 overall. Sandburg, which has won five in a row and is 10-2 overall, earned 17 points in the poll, tied with Monroe (NY). South Mountain (Ariz.) rounded out the top 20 with 40 points.
Sandburg’s region includes three teams ranked in the top nine — No. 1 South Suburban, No. 7 Triton and No. 9 Olive-Harvey. The Chargers, whose 51.3 field goal percentage for the season ranks fourth in the country, host Triton at 7:30 p.m. Friday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium in their next game.
