For the second year in a row, Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball player Madison Lowe (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) has been nominated for NJCAA All-America consideration after being one of the top three vote-getters to the All-Region IV Division II District L team.

Lowe, a 5-foot-8 forward, has made her mark each of the last two seasons with the Chargers as one of the top 3-point shooters in the country. She’s started all 27 games for Sandburg this season, leading the Chargers in scoring (13.4 points per game), 3s made (76), 3-point percentage (36.7 percent), free-throw percentage (76.7 percent) and rebounds (142). She’s second among Sandburg players in rebounds per game (5.3) and third in assists (46).

Lowe’s 76 treys rank third among all players in the district and 18th nationally. Her percentage from beyond the arc is tops among District L players. Lowe has hit at least one 3-pointer in 25 of 27 games this season, and she’s knocked down multiple 3s in a game 17 times.

Lowe scored a career-high 38 points in the Chargers’ 66-64 win at South Suburban on Dec. 21, going 12 of 17 from beyond the arc for what’s believed to be the most 3s ever by a Sandburg player in one game.

Lowe and the Chargers will begin Region IV District L tournament play by traveling to face Moraine Valley at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
