No. 15 Cougars Pull Away from Sandburg Women in 2nd Half

The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team was within striking distance in the third quarter before 15th-ranked Illinois Central ran away to defeat the Chargers 83-45 on Wednesday night.

The Chargers (8-12) trailed by seven with 7 minutes to play in the second half before the Cougars (17-6) extended their lead.

Alivia Cummings (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) scored a team-best 13 points for the Chargers on 5-of-7 shooting, including making both of her 3-point attempts. Cummings, who also had a team-high three steals, has reached double digits in scoring in four of her last five games. Danayzia Stuckey (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) added nine points for Sandburg.

Willow Porter (Wyoming, Ill./Stark County) and Jordan Price (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) each had five rebounds to lead the Chargers on the glass.

Jasmine Levy scored a game-high 15 points to lead three ICC players in double figures.

Sandburg is in action again tonight at 5:30 with an Arrowhead Conference contest at Sauk Valley.
