Pekin Seniors Juergens, Flairty Sign With Sandburg Softball

Alexis Juergens and Erin Flairty, seniors at Pekin Community High School, have signed to play next year for the Carl Sandburg College softball team.Juergens, a 5-foot-6 pitcher, had a 2.97 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings as a junior last season for the Dragons.
Flairty, a 5-6 infielder, batted .304 with a .347 on-base percentage, scored nine runs and had three stolen bases for the Dragons in 2017. She also will play outside hitter for the Chargers volleyball team, which reached the NJCAA Division II national tournament last season.
The Sandburg softball team opens the 2018 season March 9 at Coastal Alabama-East as part of its eight-game Spring Break trip to the Florida Panhandle.
