Willow Porter (Wyoming, Ill./Stark County) tied a career high with 18 points, but the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team couldn’t hold on to a halftime lead in a 74-61 loss at Illinois Valley on Tuesday.

Porter matched the 18 points she scored Dec. 1 against Lincoln Land. She scored 10 in the first half Tuesday against the Eagles, helping the Chargers (10-14 overall, 3-4 Arrowhead Conference) to a 34-29 halftime lead.

IVCC (14-9, 5-2), though, outscored Sandburg 20-11 in the third quarter to jump ahead and held on in the fourth.

Madison Lowe (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 points to join Porter in double figures.

Julia Pohar and Rachael Moraski each scored 18 to lead the Eagles, who hit 11 3s on the night.

Sandburg is in action again at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Black Hawk.
