Carl Sandburg College has partnered with Arizona State University on a guaranteed admission program that simplifies for the process for Sandburg students seeking to complete their bachelor’s degree online or on campus through ASU.

Sandburg is one of 12 Illinois community colleges — and the first outside of Chicagoland — to be part of ASU’s Guaranteed Program for Admission, which is designed for community college students to stay focused on earning their undergraduate degree and plan for a smooth transition to taking courses through Arizona State. Students can sign up for the Guaranteed Program for Admission while at Sandburg and then apply to ASU once they’re ready to transfer.

The Guaranteed Program for Admission equips students with ASU tools and guidance on which courses to take at their respective community college. ASU also will work with students to explore degrees, scholarships and other opportunities to enhance the completion of their bachelor’s degree.

Students will have general admission to ASU guaranteed once they have completed one of the following:

  • At least 24 transferable semester credits with a minimum GPA of 3.00, plus either a final high school transcript or GED
  • The Illinois Transferable General Education Core Curriculum with a minimum GPA of 2.50, plus either a final high school transcript or GED
  • A transfer associate degree with a minimum cumulative transfer GPA or 2.50.

This is the latest agreement Sandburg has made with a four-year college or university to help graduates easily transfer so they can obtain a bachelor’s degree. Sandburg also has partnerships in place with Bellevue University, Culver-Stockton College, Franklin University, Illinois College, Illinois State University, Knox College, Lincoln Monmouth College, St. Ambrose University, St. Francis Medical Center College of Nursing, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Illinois at Springfield and Western Illinois University.

Sandburg serves nearly 3,000 students throughout west-central Illinois, offers more than 50 university transfer, associate in applied science, certificate and advanced certificate programs, and is consistently recognized as one of the top community college its size in the country for digital technology.
