Sandburg Women at Moraine Valley on Tuesday for Region IV Quarterfinals

The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team will hit the road to open postseason play.

The Chargers will play at Moraine Valley at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Region IV District L tournament.

Sandburg (13-14), the fifth seed in the tournament, closed the regular season with three straight victories by an average margin of 19 points. Fourth-seeded Moraine Valley (19-10) didn’t face the Chargers in the regular season.

Tuesday’s winner will face top-seeded Bryant & Stratton or eighth-seeded Oakton in the semifinals at noon Saturday on the campus of Waubonsee Community College. The championship is scheduled for noon March 10 at Waubonsee, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament from March 20-24 in Harrison, Ark.

Game 1 — No. 8 Oakton at No. 1 Bryant & Stratton, 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27

Game 2 — No. 5 Carl Sandburg at No. 4 Moraine Valley, 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27

Game 3 — No. 7 Kishwaukee at No. 2 South Suburban, 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27

Game 4 — No. 6 Triton at No. 3 McHenry County, 5:30 p.m. Feb. 27

Semifinals (at Waubonsee Community College)

Game 5 — Winner 1 vs. Winner 2, noon March 3

Game 6 — Winner 3 vs. Winner 4, 2 p.m. March 3

Championship (at Waubonsee Community College)

Noon March 10
