Carl Sandburg College student Carrie Pritchett has been awarded a $1,000 Illinois Community College Faculty Association Scholarship for the 2018-19 academic year.

Pritchett was one of six students selected to receive the scholarship from more than 40 applications statewide. Pritchett has maintained a perfect grade point average while studying toward an associate degree in nursing. She also serves in the Nursing Peer Mentor Program and is active in the Illinois Student Nurse Association.

Away from Sandburg, Pritchett co-founded the BU1 Jerry Tharp Fallen Heroes Ride; volunteers as a high school cross country coach; volunteers in the children’s nursery and kid’s club at her church; participated in fundraising efforts to support her local high school’s new track; and is the mother of two teenage sons.

The ICCFA represents the common interests of all faculty in the public community colleges in Illinois. The organization promotes teaching and learning excellence through professional development, provides a faculty presence on the Illinois Community College Board and informs faculty of issues that affect the state’s 48 community colleges.
