The Carl Sandburg College women’s cross country team and six Chargers runners have been named 2018 Scholar All-Americans by the NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association.

The women’s cross country team was one of 23 teams to earn the distinction after posting a 3.506 grade point average during the 2018 fall semester. Teams must have had a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 GPA to qualify for the honor.

Three members of the women’s team — freshman Carlie Barman (Woodhull, Ill./AlWood), freshman Annadoria Ledbetter (Oneida, Ill./ROWVA) and freshman Annie Sholl (Carthage, Ill./Illini West) — earned individual Scholar All-American recognition.

The Chargers also had three runners on the men’s side — freshman Andrew Hand (Woodhull, Ill./AlWood), freshman Dixon Kiptoo (Eldoret, Kenya/Kipsangui) and freshman Kevin White (Carthage, Ill./Illini West) — named as Scholar All-Americans.

To be a Scholar All-American, runners must have had a GPA of at least 3.40 during the 2018 fall semester. There were 135 women’s runners and 121 men’s runners who qualified for the honor.
